On the 28th of the Jewish month of Iyar (this year is 2d July), the Jewish people celebrate the reunification of Jerusalem, which took place on 7th June, 1967.

This is a special day for all Jewish people. On the 14th May, 1948, the state of Israel was proclaimed. Jerusalem became the capital. However, during the first 19 years of the formation of Israel’s independence, Jerusalem was divided, and its eastern part, where the main Jewish shrine, the Eastern Wall (Wailing Wall), was located, was under Jordan’s control.

And only in the 67th year, for the first time in two thousand years, Jerusalem became a united city, the Jews got access to the Old City and the Wailing Wall and therefore this day became a symbol of historical justice. Today, Jerusalem is a modern, fast-growing city with a huge historical heritage.
