EAJC General Council discusses the future of the Congress in New York

                  11.05.2017, Congress

On April 26, the General Council of the Euro-Asian Jewish Congress (EAJC) met in New York, after the end of the Plenary Assembly of the World Jewish Congress. The meeting was chaired by Josef Zissels. The main point of consideration was the distressing situation in the Euro-Asian Jewish Congress, which was the result of an almost complete lack of financing for the Congress by the EAJC President Julius Meinl over the course of nine months. A number of options to resolve the situation were discussed, including Julius Meinl’s voluntary resignation from the position of EAJC President.

Founders of the Congress are continuing a discussion with the EAJC General Council members who were unable to be present at the New York session. The final decision will be made in the middle of May 2017.
