Mikhail Chlenov

Chairman of the EAJC Strategic Board. Vice President of the World Jewish Congress. Member of the Presidium of the World Zionist Organization and member of the Board of Governors of the Jewish Agency for Israel (“Sochnut”).

Since the early 1970s, Chlenov has been active in the independent Jewish national movement, initially in the USSR and subsequently in Russia. He began studying Hebrew in 1971 and has been teaching the language since 1972. In 1981, he established the Jewish Historical and Ethnographical Commission.

Soviet and Russian ethnographer, Orientalist, and public figure. Ph.D. in History, Professor. Author of two monographs and approximately 150 scientific publications on various aspects of ethnography, linguistics, sociology, and related disciplines.
