Biography, Documentary, and History

The book "Righteous Among the Nations. Ukraine" contains approximately 2,700 names of Ukrainians who rescued Jews during the Holocaust. This is a comprehensive list of Ukrainians officially recognized to date as Righteous Among the Nations by Yad Vashem, the World Holocaust Remembrance Center in Israel. On behalf of the State of Israel, this title has been awarded by a special commission since 1963 to non-Jews who provided assistance to Jews during the Holocaust. To date, about 27,000 individuals worldwide have been recognized as Righteous. Ukraine ranks fourth in the number of Righteous Among the Nations.

The names of all Ukrainian Righteous in the book are categorized by region; the publication also features individual stories of rescue and photographs of the Righteous themselves. The foreword to the book was contributed by the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy, the President of Israel Isaac Herzog, the President of the EAJC Dr. Michael Mirilashvili, the First Vice-President of the EAJC and President of the Jewish Confederation of Ukraine Boris Lozhkin, and the Chairman of the Advisory Board of the Babyn Yar Holocaust Memorial Center Natan Sharansky.

The book "Righteous Among the Nations. Ukraine", initiated by the Jewish Confederation of Ukraine, was published by "Nash Format" with the support of the Yad Vashem Holocaust Memorial Complex, the Babyn Yar Holocaust Memorial Center, and the Euro-Asian Jewish Congress.
