The finals of the Second Theatre Competition "Memory of the Nation" will take place on April 16th at MGIMO University

March 20 marked the deadline for applications to the Second All-Russian Holocaust Remembrance Youth Theatre Competition, "Memory of the Nation." The competition is organized by the Public Youth Chamber (Youth Parliament) of the State Duma of the Russian Federation, the Euro-Asian Jewish Congress, and the All-Russian Union of Jewish Students.

The competition is open to amateur creative groups and associations of pupils, students, and educators aged 14 to 35 from educational institutions who have staged dramatic or musical plays, as well as literary-musical or musical-dramatic compositions.

A total of 100 applications were received from Buryatia, Tatarstan, Udmurtia, Dagestan, Crimea, the Astrakhan, Belgorod, Saratov, Samara, Tver, Sverdlovsk, Kostroma, Rostov, Oryol, Arkhangelsk, Ryazan, Magadan, Irkutsk, Kursk, and Tambov regions, the Stavropol and Khabarovsk territories, the Yamalo-Nets and Khanty-Mansi autonomous okrugs, the Jewish Autonomous Region, and Moscow.

In early April, the Organizing Committee will select five winners, who will be invited to Moscow for the competition finals scheduled for April 16 at the Moscow State Institute of International Relations (MGIMO). At the formal ceremony, the finalist groups will present their work before the panel of judges.

Panel of Judges:

Alexander Gelman — playwright, screenwriter, publicist, recipient of the Golden Mask 2019 National Theatre Award for outstanding contribution to the development of theatrical art;

Anna Keenan — First Secretary, Cultural Attaché of the Embassy of the State of Israel to the Russian Federation;

Nikolay Svanidze — historian, political scientist, television presenter, member of the Committee of Civil Initiatives, and member of the Presidential Council for Civil Society and Human Rights;

Alla Gerber — writer, journalist, public figure, and President of the Holocaust Foundation;

Dr. Haim Ben Yakov — Director-General of the Euro-Asian Jewish Congress (Israel);

Olga Kazakova — First Deputy Chair of the State Duma Committee on Culture;

Sergey Netievsky — Russian actor, screenwriter, and television presenter.

Winners in various categories will be awarded valuable prizes.
