Sponsored by the Euro-Asian Jewish Congress, a screening of the documentary "Shostakovich: Symphony No. 13" will be held at Tel Aviv University on October 28.
Directed by Grigory Ilugdin, the film chronicles the composer's life and the creation of his Thirteenth Symphony. Its opening movement, "Babi Yar," set to the poetry of Yevgeny Yevtushenko, stood as a direct challenge to the suppression of the memory of the mass murder of Kyiv's Jewish population.
The screening will take place on Wednesday, October 28, at 6:00 p.m. in the Fastlicht Auditorium of the Mexico Building (Faculty of the Arts), Tel Aviv University.
Campus access is via the main gate on Chaim Levanon Street, at the intersection with Einstein Street.
Admission is free.
