Through the cooperation with the EAJC, Taglit will significantly increase the number of Russian-speaking participants.

Yesterday in Jerusalem, the annual Taglit project event for participants from the former Soviet Union took place. Among the guests were Taglit CEO Gidi Mark, Israeli Defense Minister Avigdor Lieberman, EAJC President Michael Mirilashvili, and Genesis Philanthropy Group CEO Ilia Salita.

Michael Mirilashvili addressed the participating Taglit students: "As President of the Euro-Asian Jewish Congress, I am pleased that we have the opportunity to be part of this unique event – introducing Jews of the Diaspora to the State of Israel. Participants of the Taglit project have an exceptional opportunity to get acquainted with our common historical homeland and its forward-looking history in a short time. Whether this trip remains an exciting adventure or becomes something greater is a personal choice. Most importantly, in the heart of every Jew, wherever they may be, there should be a place for this country and a connection to their people. Our unique history and rich tradition constitute the foundation upon which we together, and each of us individually, can build our future."

Earlier, the Euro-Asian Jewish Congress announced its intention to invest one million US dollars in the Taglit project. Consequently, hundreds of young Jewish men and women from these communities will receive the opportunity to visit Israel for free as part of a ten-day educational and recreational trip. For many of them, this will be their first opportunity to visit Israel.

Since the project's inception in 2000, more than 45,000 Russian-speaking participants have visited Israel. Cooperation with the EAJC will significantly increase the number of participants from Eastern Europe and Asia as early as next year.
