Over one hundred children attended the Nasharim Jewish camp in Moldova

The Nesharim Jewish camp, organized by the Jewish Community of the Republic of Moldova and held in July 2019 in Moldova with the support of the EAJC, gathered over one hundred children from across the country.

Throughout the ten-day session, the participants learned extensively about Jewish history and had the opportunity to engage directly with key historical figures, who visited the camp daily and participated actively in its program.

The participants of Nesharim observed Shabbat together and showed great interest in the accounts of Joseph and Moses, the exodus from Egypt, the destruction of the Temple in Jerusalem, the dispersion of the Jewish people, the receiving of the Torah, and the Twelve Tribes of Israel.

The camp offered daily thematic masterclasses and workshops catering to diverse interests, ranging from business and public speaking to dance and slime-making. The children demonstrated exemplary teamwork in sports competitions and intellectual games, and engaged in thoughtful discussions on both Jewish and universal topics.

The camp organizers placed a particular emphasis on the history of Jews in Moldova, as well as on discussing the present and future of the country's Jewish community.

“The Jewish Community of the Republic of Moldova and the EAJC have united in a shared commitment to assist children in discovering and shaping their Jewish identity. The annual Nesharim camp effectively achieves this objective, attracting more participants each year,” stated EAJC President Michael Mirilashvili.
