The EAJC supports the Ukrainian refugee assistance program initiated by the Jewish Community of Moldova

The Jewish Community of the Republic of Moldova has established 11 temporary accommodation centers for Jewish refugees across the country. These facilities provide shelter, essential information, transportation, food, and personal hygiene supplies. This was announced by Alexander Bilinkis, President of the Jewish Community of the Republic of Moldova.

According to Mr. Bilinkis, the Jewish Community of Moldova is coordinating its efforts with the Government of Israel, the Israeli Embassy, the Jewish Agency for Israel (S Jewish Agency), and various religious organizations in Ukraine. Their collective objective is to provide comprehensive assistance to the refugees.

The Euro-Asian Jewish Congress has promptly provided substantial financial aid to the Moldovan community and is actively facilitating the evacuation of individuals from the conflict zone. Representatives of the community expressed their gratitude to the leadership of the EAJC for their support.

According to UN data, since the outbreak of hostilities, over 3.3 million Ukrainian residents have been forced to flee the country. More than 360,000 refugees have entered Moldova, including thousands of Jewish individuals.

“We are witnessing a profound humanitarian crisis. Thousands of people are fleeing shelling and warfare. In these trying times, the Jewish Community of the Republic of Moldova is receiving a massive influx of refugees daily. The current situation defies simple description; it is a combination of chaos, horror, and immense human suffering,” stated Alexander Bilinkis, President of the Jewish Community of Moldova and Vice-President of the EAJC.
