The EAJC congratulates the leaders of Israel and Kazakhstan on the 30th anniversary of diplomatic relations

The Euro-Asian Jewish Congress congratulates the leadership of Israel and the Republic of Kazakhstan on the 30th anniversary of the establishment of full-scale diplomatic relations between the two nations.

Over the past 30 years, Israel and Kazakhstan have achieved a high level of cooperation in the political, economic, trade, and cultural spheres. The parties actively engage within the framework of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence-Building Measures in Asia (CICA) and the Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions. Trade and economic relations represent a critical aspect of bilateral cooperation between Israel and the Republic of Kazakhstan, with direct investments from Israel to Kazakhstan reaching $33 million in 2021.

Notably, the leadership of Kazakhstan declared the strengthening of interfaith and interethnic harmony a priority since the earliest days of its independence. By combining tradition and historical heritage with openness to modern global values, Kazakhstan serves as an exemplary model of stability and tolerance. Interethnic, intercultural, and interfaith dialogue constitutes the cornerstone of peaceful coexistence among diverse ethnic and religious groups. This principle has been successfully and consistently implemented in the Republic of Kazakhstan. The Euro-Asian Jewish Congress extends its gratitude to the leadership of Kazakhstan for their commitment to these values.

For 30 years, the Jewish community of the Republic of Kazakhstan has achieved significant milestones in reviving Jewish life across the country. Today, the Republic of Kazakhstan is home to thousands of Jewish citizens. The deep historical connection between the Jewish and Kazakh peoples dates back to the Middle Ages during the era of the Great Silk Road. Kazakhstan also warmly received Jews fleeing the atrocities of the Second World War. We remain profoundly grateful to the people of Kazakhstan. For centuries, Jews have felt secure on the territory of modern Kazakhstan and continue to thrive in an atmosphere of acceptance and mutual support.

The Euro-Asian Jewish Congress, which also recently celebrated its 30th anniversary, has always regarded Kazakhstan as a focal point of its regional activities. For decades, the Congress has supported programs for the Jewish community of Kazakhstan and numerous local social and educational initiatives. We are pleased to witness the progress of the Jewish community and to contribute to its continued prosperity.
