The EAJC extends its congratulations on the occasion of Shavuot.

Dear Friends,

During the traditional Passover Seder, we recite that even if the Almighty had only brought us out of Egypt and not given us the Torah, it would have been enough. Yet, we say this with a touch of irony. We would not be who we are today, and our nation would not exist, had the event we celebrate on Shavuot not occurred thousands of years ago—if we had not been given the Torah.

Having endured through centuries and millennia, the Torah remains a steadfast foundation, a moral compass, and a rich source of our nation's culture and traditions to this day. Having permeated far beyond the Jewish world, the Torah has become the heritage of all mankind. However, the unique honor of guarding it and preserving it through generations belongs to the Jewish people.

On this Feast of Giving, I wish for everyone to find their own Torah or their path toward it, for it is within the Torah that the strength, wisdom, and eternal nature of our people reside.
