The EAJC expresses its gratitude to the Moldovan authorities for their support of Israel

News

The Parliament of the Republic of Moldova has adopted a declaration expressing solidarity with the people of Israel and condemning the attack on the Jewish state by the terrorist organization Hamas. Moldovan Foreign Minister Nicu Popescu also voiced strong support for Israel. During a phone conversation with his Israeli counterpart Eli Cohen, Popescu underscored Israel's right to self-defense, noting that Moldova has recognized Hamas as a terrorist organization since 2019. “Moldova issues a clear and firm call for the immediate and unconditional release of all hostages held by Hamas,” the minister stated on social media.

The Euro-Asian Jewish Congress expresses its gratitude to the Parliament of the Republic of Moldova, to Minister Popescu personally, and to all citizens of the country for their support and public condemnation of terrorist actions. In these devastating days for the people of Israel, as the death toll from the brutal terrorist attacks on our citizens continues to rise and increasingly harrowing accounts emerge, the voice of the civilized world condemning the inhuman cruelty of Hamas terrorists is of paramount importance. We are highly appreciative to the Moldovan authorities for taking this significant step.

The President of the EAJC, Dr. Michael Mirilashvili, commented on the decision of the Moldovan authorities:

“Hamas is pure evil. It is an evil that the entire civilized world must stand against, forming a united front to eliminate any possibility of this organization's continued existence. Only our solidarity can defeat terrorism and eradicate it permanently — both in the Middle East and worldwide. The leadership of the Republic of Moldova has repeatedly demonstrated its resolute fight against anti-Semitism in all its forms, as well as its broad support for the Jewish community. This gesture is yet another testament to the close and deeply cooperative relations between our nations.”
