The Maayan Newspaper of the Jewish Diaspora of Kyrgyzstan Celebrates its 25th Anniversary

The Euro-Asian Jewish Congress is pleased to congratulate the editorial board, staff, and readers of "Maayan," the monthly newspaper of the Jewish diaspora in Kyrgyzstan, on its 25th anniversary. It is remarkable that, despite the continuous growth of digital media over the years, the community, its Board, and the editorial staff have managed to preserve the print edition of the newspaper. We also extend our special congratulations to its long-standing editor, member of the Union of Journalists and Honored Cultural Worker of the Kyrgyz Republic, Leonid Yakovlevich Zelichenko, for his skillful leadership of "Maayan," which has sustained both its readership and public interest.

The newspaper, which has introduced its readers to life in Kyrgyzstan and Israel for two and a half decades, can rightfully be considered a bridge between the two nations. Its outstanding contributors and editors do much to strengthen international ties, and their contribution to business development, technology transfer, and securing investment for the Kyrgyz economy is invaluable.

"Maayan" has made a major contribution to preserving the traditions and culture of the Jewish people. For many years, the principles of tolerance, as well as opposition to antisemitism, terrorism, and political and religious extremism, have consistently been championed in its pages.
