The communities and organizations of the EAJC have declared their support for Israel.

A number of communities and organizations in the Euro-Asian region affiliated with the Euro-Asian Jewish Congress have historical traditions of supporting the State of Israel during mass rocket bombardments of Israeli territory by the terrorist organization Hamas.

Members of the Russian Association of Jewish Former Prisoners of Ghettos and Nazi Concentration Camps, which is part of the Euro-Asian Jewish Congress, contributed to a fundraising campaign to construct bomb shelters for residents of southern Israel. On the initiative of the Russian Jewish Congress, these shelters will be built at a boarding school located in the Kfar Silver youth village, situated close to Ashkelon, where sirens sounded repeatedly during the latest cycle of hostilities with Hamas in the Gaza Strip.

Explaining the decision to support Israel, Oleg Efimovich Mortkovich, head of the Association, stated: “The Middle East is once again in turmoil. The terrorist organization Hamas is firing thousands of rockets at Israel’s civilian population. As former child prisoners of ghettos and concentration camps, we are deeply troubled by the current situation. No one understands this horror better than we do—what it means for children to experience rockets raining down on them, to be forced to seek safety in basements and other shelters, and to have human life completely disrupted. Therefore, we who have not forgotten the tragedy of the Jewish people during the Nazi regime could not remain indifferent. The members of our organization raised funds and contributed them towards the construction of bomb shelters.”

Svetlana Yakimenko, founder of Project Kesher, which is a member of the EAJC, participated in a special event in support of Israel organized by the Russian Jewish Congress in Moscow.

During the challenging days of the conflict, Jewish communities in Georgia and Moldova also organized rallies in support of Israel. In the center of Tbilisi, as well as in other major cities in Georgia, solidarity rallies gathered significant crowds of diverse nationalities, with community leaders in attendance. Representatives of the Jewish community took an active part, including Elena Berkovich, head of the Ashkenazi community of Georgia.

In Chisinau, a rally supporting the State of Israel was held near the Monument to the Victims of the Chisinau Ghetto. The Director General of the Bureau for Interethnic Relations of the Republic of Moldova, Elena Belyakova, and the Vice Presidents of the Jewish Community of the Republic of Moldova, Harry Galanter and Shabatai Khanukaev, expressed their solidarity with Israel, conveying messages of support and wishes for a peaceful sky.
