The Chairman of the EAJC Board Met with the Prime Minister of Croatia

On October 17, the Chairman of the EAJC Board, Aaron G. Frenkel, attended the Executive Committee meeting of the World Jewish Congress in Zagreb, Croatia.

Jewish community leaders from over 40 countries gathered in Zagreb to formulate a strategic response to the Hamas terrorist attacks against Israel and to express their solidarity with the citizens of the Jewish State.

During the event, the WJC Executive Committee delegation met with the Prime Minister of Croatia, Andrej Plenković.

“The Croatian government stands united in solidarity with Israel. We strongly condemn Hamas’s terrorist crimes and the murder of civilians, including women and children,” Plenković stated.

“Just as we express our support for Israel, we must also support Jewish communities globally. Jews everywhere must feel secure, and the Croatian government will do everything within its power to protect our Jewish community,” the Prime Minister added.

“On behalf of the leadership of the Euro-Asian Jewish Congress, please accept my gratitude to the leadership of Croatia for their expression of solidarity with Israel and their unwavering stance against terrorism. Today, we need the voice of the civilized world to condemn the inhumane brutality of Hamas terrorists. This is also a vulnerable time for Jewish communities outside of Israel. Under these circumstances, we must take all necessary precautions to enhance the security of Jewish communities worldwide, while strictly prosecuting any manifestations of hatred or violence against Jews or the Jewish State.

The Euro-Asian Jewish Congress stands ready to assist in any legal proceedings in any nation within our region aimed at banning the terrorist organization Hamas and outlawing its supporters. We therefore call upon Jewish community leaders, as well as state and municipal officials, to initiate and promote anti-terrorism legislation. The time to act is now!” stated the Chairman of the EAJC Board, Aaron G. Frenkel.

“On behalf of the leadership of the Euro-Asian Jewish Congress, please accept my gratitude to the leadership of Croatia for their expression of solidarity with Israel and their unwavering stance against terrorism.

We sincerely appreciate your proactive approach to combating antisemitism in all its forms, and we thank you for adopting the working definition of antisemitism (developed by the IHRA) and for your support of the Jewish community.

Today, in these darkest days for the people of Israel, as the death toll from the brutal terrorist attacks on our citizens continues to rise daily and we receive more horrifying accounts, we need the voice of the civilized world to firmly condemn the inhumane brutality of Hamas terrorists.

This is also a highly vulnerable period for Jewish communities outside of Israel. Aside from the atrocities committed in Israel, Hamas terrorists are intent on incited hatred against Jews globally and inspiring a wave of violence.

Under these circumstances, we must act swiftly, taking precautionary measures and strengthening the security of Jewish communities worldwide, while strictly prosecuting any expressions of hatred and violence against Jews or the Jewish State.

Furthermore, we observe numerous social media campaigns supporting Hamas, legitimizing their actions, and portraying them as so-called “freedom fighters.” We still have a long way to go and must exert considerable effort in the information war to counter the legitimization of terrorism.
