The Birthright Israel Program Reaches Historic Milestone of 800,000 Participants

Over its 23 years of existence, the Taglit project, which aims to introduce Jewish youth from all over the world to Israel, has surpassed the milestone of 800,000 participants. This milestone was announced by project leadership during the annual mega-event at the Expo Tel Aviv complex. Attended by more than 3,000 young participants, guests, and sponsors from 13 countries, the event took place in an in-person format for the first time following the two-year COVID-19 pandemic. Prominent philanthropist Dr. Miriam Adelson and Birthright Israel CEO Gidi Mark delivered welcoming remarks to the audience.

According to the Birthright Israel Foundation, the 10-day trip encompasses participants from 68 nations, including countries within the Euro-Asian region. The Euro-Asian Jewish Congress announced its sponsorship of the Taglit project in 2018. This partnership has enabled hundreds of young Jewish men and women from these communities to visit Israel free of charge as part of the educational tour, with many experiencing the country for the very first time.

The Taglit project is a ten-day tour designed for youth of Jewish heritage. The project aims to introduce young people to Israel's historical sites, landmarks, contemporary life, peers, students, and soldiers, while fostering a connection to Jewish history and heritage among young Diaspora Jews to support and cultivate their Jewish identity.
