The Tashkent synagogue "Beth Menachem" is saved from demolition

News

We recently learned with great satisfaction that the "Beth Menachem" Synagogue in Tashkent has been saved from demolition. The developer, "Absolute Business Trade", a private enterprise that had filed a lawsuit against the "Tashkent Jewish Religious Community of European Jews", withdrew its claim to the land plot, thereby abandoning the demolition of the building. For more than two years, the status of the "Beth Menachem" Synagogue remained uncertain, and finally, the situation has been properly resolved.

The attempt to demolish the synagogue once again demonstrates the vital importance of international organizations supporting Jewish communities. Their involvement frequently exerts a positive influence on both external and internal processes.

Regarding the Tashkent synagogue, we are sincerely pleased that our support, alongside that of other international organizations and local authorities, has prevented the destruction of a spiritual, cultural, and charitable center of such great importance to the Jewish community of Tashkent.
