On October 25, a formal reception was held at the Waldorf Astoria Hotel in Jerusalem to mark the visit of the Prime Minister of Albania, Edi Rama, to Israel. The event was hosted by the Honorary President of the Euro-Asian Jewish Congress (EAJC), Alexander Mashkevitch. During a special ceremony, Mashkevitch, alongside EAJC President Michael Mirilashvili, presented the Albanian Head of Government with a commemorative award for his outstanding contributions to strengthening Israeli-Albanian relations and supporting the local Jewish community.
The presentation of the award highlighted the deep historical ties between the Albanian and Jewish peoples: during World War II, Albania and its Righteous Among the Nations risked their lives to save European Jews. Consequently, the Jewish people and the State of Israel express their profound gratitude to the nation of Albania.
Furthermore, a key milestone in the partnership between the Albanian authorities and the EAJC was the joint evacuation of Afghan refugees to Albania. Emergency assistance to 40 men and women was provided with the direct involvement of Alexander Mashkevitch and the Chairman of the Board of the Euro-Asian Jewish Congress, Aaron G. Frenkel.
