The EAJC Vice-President Met with the Ambassador of France to Moldova

Vice-President of the Euro-Asian Jewish Congress (EAJC) and Chairman of the Jewish Community of the Republic of Moldova, Alexander Bilinkis, held a meeting with the Ambassador of France to the Republic of Moldova, Paul Graham. Bilinkis briefed the diplomat on the activities, structure, and objectives of the Jewish community, and presented its main projects and key areas of work.

During the meeting, the parties addressed the issues of hate crimes, verbal racial abuse, and antisemitism—focusing on prevention and prosecution. Paul Graham emphasized the critical importance of preventing antisemitism and ensuring such manifestations are punished, as well as preserving and promoting the cultural and spiritual heritage of the Jews of Moldova.

Furthermore, the EAJC Vice-President and the French Ambassador discussed the possibility of screening the documentary "LA MORT EN FACE, LE POGROM DE IASI" in Moldova, which was broadcast and co-produced by France Télévisions. The film was directed by the renowned French journalist Nellu Cohn, who recently visited Moldova. The parties also covered cooperation in examining archival materials related to the Kishinev Pogrom of 1903 and agreed to join efforts in preparing commemorative events for its anniversary in 2023.
