The memoirs of Lyudmila Yeniseyeva-Varshavskaya have been officially published

The Representative Office of the Euro-Asian Jewish Congress in Kazakhstan has published a book by the prominent Kazakhstani-Jewish journalist, writer, and screenwriter Lyudmila Eniseyeva-Varshavskaya, titled "Read and Verified by Me Finally!!!".

The book features a compilation of interviews and essays written over the course of Lyudmila Eniseyeva-Varshavskaya's 50-year career. Many of these works offer a vivid and masterfully crafted portrayal of Jewish life in Kazakhstan. Among the subjects of the collection are Sergei Eisenstein, Leon Trotsky, Natalia Sats, Alexander Galich, and David Markish, alongside world-renowned filmmakers, distinguished scientists, cultural figures, and other extraordinary individuals whose lives mirror the milestones of modern history.

This volume serves as a unique historical testament to its era. Having spent her childhood in Almaty during the 1940s, Lyudmila Eniseyeva-Varshavskaya provides a profound perspective on the World War II evacuation period, during which Kazakhstan became a sanctuary for many Soviet Jews.

Lyudmila Eniseyeva-Varshavskaya was a member of both the Union of Journalists of the USSR and the Union of Cinematographers of the USSR. As a journalist and cultural historian, her reputation extended far beyond the borders of Kazakhstan. A recipient of the Soros-Kazakhstan Award and a lifelong member of professional creative unions, she authored the screenplays for over 30 documentaries and popular science films. She was an exceptional writer whose articles, short stories, and memoirs frequently graced the pages of leading newspapers and journals.
