A special edition dedicated to the "pivotal figure" of Israeli poetry—Hayim Nahman Bialik. January marks the 150th anniversary of his birth. Maxim Gorky referred to Bialik as a biblical prophet. His works were translated into Russian by the classic writers of the "Silver Age." However, the most famous translation was penned by Vladimir Jabotinsky—another founding figure of modern Jewish literature, journalism, politics, and much more.
"Jewish Discourse" invites you to listen to a lecture by Zoya Kopelman, a prominent philologist, lecturer at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, and author of the afterword to the 2021 edition of Bialik's works.
