The Rescuers of Soviet Jewry: A History of the Nativ Organization

“Nativ” is the Israeli government agency responsible for maintaining ties with Jews in Eastern Europe, the Baltic states, and the post-Soviet space. Today, it operates as a department within the Israeli Prime Minister's Office. Historically, however, the agency was founded as a division of the Mossad foreign intelligence service, with the explicit mission to "rescue Jews from the USSR and the Eastern Bloc." While its intelligence ties are a thing of the past, in 2023, Nativ still retains a level of punctuality and efficiency rarely seen in Israeli state institutions. As the organization marks its 70th anniversary, this special episode explores its history.

Guest: Dr. Nati Kantorovich, Director of the Information and Research Department at Nativ.
