
Over the past two decades, it has become commonplace that events involving antisemitism and other forms of overt, including violent, xenophobia are most frequently associated with Western Europe, the United States, and especially the Muslim world. These countries and regions continued to generate headlines of this nature throughout 2017–2018. Conversely, the former Soviet Union—once arguably the primary source of news regarding Judeophobia and the discrimination of Jewish people—has receded to the margins of the global agenda in this regard following the collapse of the USSR and the global communist system.
