The significance of this volume lies in its introduction of scientific data collected during ethnographic expeditions in the late 1970s and early 1980s, a period when bearers of the Krymchak cultural tradition were still living. Consequently, the publication of these ethnographic materials on the Krymchaks is of paramount importance. In Crimea, the Jewish population of which is the focus of this study, the West and the East, Europe and Asia, have historically converged. Thus, it is highly symbolic that this work is published under the auspices of the Euro-Asian Jewish Congress.
