The Euro-Asian Jewish Congress (EAJC) extends its congratulations to the world-renowned conductor and cellist, Maestro Dmitry Yablonsky, on his appointment as Music Director and Chief Conductor of the Jerusalem Symphony Orchestra (JSO).

Dmitry Yablonsky will lead the orchestra for an initial five-year term running through 2031. Under his leadership, the JSO will continue to strive for the highest artistic excellence, expand its international reach, and strengthen its role as a cultural representative of Jerusalem and the State of Israel.

Maestro Yablonsky has a long-standing relationship with the Jerusalem Symphony Orchestra. He has conducted the orchestra both in Israel and during international tours, including performances in the United States, the United Arab Emirates, and Japan. In 2016, he was named Conductor Laureate of the JSO.

Of particular significance to the EAJC is Dmitry Yablonsky’s deep familiarity with the cultural landscape of the Eurasian region. Over the course of his international career, his work has extended to Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan, among other nations, collaborating extensively with musical and cultural institutions across various countries.

The Director General of the EAJC, Dr. Haim Ben Yakov, who shares a long-standing personal friendship with Dmitry Yablonsky, congratulated the maestro on his appointment:

“It is a distinct privilege to congratulate not only a globally acclaimed musician but also a long-time friend. Dmitry’s vast international experience, profound knowledge of the Eurasian cultural sphere, and firm belief in the power of music to unite people open up promising new avenues for collaboration.

In an era where dialogue between nations and states is increasingly complex yet ever more vital, culture—and music in particular—remains a universal language capable of transcending national, religious, and political boundaries.

The Euro-Asian Jewish Congress looks forward to close cooperation with Maestro Yablonsky and the Jerusalem Symphony Orchestra. We envision significant potential for joint cultural and musical initiatives in the Eurasian region, aimed at strengthening ties between Israel, local Jewish communities, and the societies of these countries.”

In commenting on his appointment, Dmitry Yablonsky emphasized the special mission of the Jerusalem Symphony Orchestra: to bring people together through music, regardless of their background. According to the Maestro, Jerusalem—as a crossroads of diverse peoples, cultures, and traditions—provides the orchestra with a unique platform to bring this vision to fruition.
