The EAJC strongly condemns the attacks on Christian pilgrims in Jerusalem

Historically, the State of Israel has consistently strived to guarantee equal rights for representatives of all religious denominations.

The Euro-Asian Jewish Congress (EAJC) strongly condemns any unlawful attempts to cause harm, offense, or damage to congregants of the Christian faith. We maintain that the recent rise in acts of public disturbance targeting Christian pilgrims in the Old City of Jerusalem must stop immediately, and those responsible must be prosecuted to the full extent of Israeli law. Consequently, we support the swift and decisive actions of law enforcement agencies, which resulted in the apprehension of suspects on the day following the incident.

We call upon the Israeli authorities to implement rigorous preventive measures to preclude the recurrence of such incidents.

Offensive conduct toward Christians and their sacred sites is entirely unacceptable. This stance has been officially voiced by the Chief Sephardic and Ashkenazi Rabbis of Israel, as well as the Prime Minister of the Jewish state. Beyond constituting a violation of objective moral and legal standards, such actions undermine the international standing of the State of Israel.

The EAJC remains committed to actively advancing interfaith and transcultural dialogue initiatives, aligned with the principles of the Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions held in Kazakhstan, which convenes with the participation of Catholic Church representatives led by His Holiness Pope Francis.
