The EAJC has launched a virtual library

The Euro-Asian Jewish Congress, in cooperation with the Shamir publishing house in Israel, has provided unrestricted access to a treasury of global Jewish literature, publishing rare and selected works on Jewish civilization on the Congress website at lib.eajc.org

Shamir Publishing is renowned for producing some of the finest Russian translations of Jewish literature. This tradition commenced in the early 1970s, when Shamir publications first reached Soviet Jewry. Despite the obstacles presented by state-sponsored antisemitism, millions of books covering the history and traditions of the Jewish people, alongside classical works of Jewish literature translated into Russian, were successfully delivered to the USSR.

Today, these unique volumes are difficult to source in commercial bookstores, yet they continue to represent an essential component of Jewish education.

The EAJC expresses its gratitude to Shamir Publishing and its editor-in-chief, our esteemed friend Rabbi Bezalel Schiff, for this initiative and cooperation. We invite other Jewish publishing houses to contribute to the development of this online library by making rare Russian-language books permanently available to the Jewish community.

We shall continue to expand our library and introduce you to the most noteworthy publications.
