The EAJC will honor the memory of the Munich Olympics terror attack victims

The Euro-Asian Jewish Congress (EAJC) joins international commemorative events marking the 52nd anniversary of one of the most tragic episodes in the history of world sports and the Jewish people — the terror attack at the Munich Olympics on September 5–6, 1972, when Palestinian terrorists from the Black September organization brutally murdered 11 members of the Israeli Olympic delegation.

In memory of the victims, Jewish organizations across the Euro-Asian region will hold ceremonies in the coming days, featuring the lighting of memorial candles, prayers, and speeches in synagogues, community centers, and youth clubs.

The central event in Israel will take place in Bat Yam, at the park named in honor of the 11 victims. The memorial evening will be held on September 5 at 19:00 at 6 Raziel Street.

EAJC President Dr. Mikhail Mirilashvili stated:

“For over half a century, the Jewish people have carried the pain of the loss inflicted by Munich-72. We remember not only the tragedy itself, but also its lesson: hatred fueled by terrorist ideologies has not disappeared. Today, we witness how the Iranian regime continues to arm and direct terrorists, provoking surges of antisemitism worldwide. Israel is fighting a just and righteous war against Hamas — and simultaneously, we are forced to wage a war against the lies, hatred, and antisemitic aggression rising under the guise of ‘political criticism.’ Remembrance is more than just a candle. It is a call to action.”
