The EAJC congratulates Natan Sharansky on his 75th anniversary.

The leadership of the Euro-Asian Jewish Congress cordially congratulates Natan Sharansky, a prominent public figure, statesman, and Chairman of the Institute for the Study of Global Antisemitism and Policy, on his 75th birthday. In a congratulatory telegram, EAJC President Dr. Michael Mirilashvili stated, in part, the following:

“Today, the global Jewish community faces numerous critical challenges, including saving human lives and preserving our tradition. Against this background, your public activity and moral stance, voiced across various platforms, are more valuable than ever, serving as an exemplary model for many.

We highly appreciate and share your uncompromising struggle against antisemitism and the delegitimization of Israel, as well as your tireless efforts to foster relations between Israel and Jewish diaspora communities.

We wish you blessings and strength in all your good deeds! May you continue to inspire us with your example until 120!”

In November 2022, Natan Sharansky spoke at the EAJC conference "The Future of Jewish Life in Post-Soviet Countries." During a panel discussion with the Director General of the Congress, Dr. Haim Ben-Yakov, he expressed his views on potential changes to the Law of Return.

“There are multiple aspects to consider—philosophical, sociological, historical—regarding how widely Israel should open its gates. I would be willing to debate this topic and seek a compromise, but when you restrict access in one area, you must provide it in another. Suddenly, discussions have emerged about closing access here, there, and everywhere—and all this is happening during a war, when the issue of repatriation has dramatically reclaimed its urgency for thousands of people. It is wrong, irresponsible, and unwise to rush and close the gates to Israel,” Sharansky stated.
