The leadership of the Euro-Asian Jewish Congress and representatives of the region's Jewish communities are deeply shocked by the news of the terror attack in Halle, Germany, which claimed two lives. We offer our profound condolences to the families and loved ones of the victims and pray for a world healed of the grave spiritual plague of xenophobia and antisemitism.

According to reports, the perpetrator attempted to breach the Halle synagogue during Yom Kippur services while 70 to 80 congregants were inside. Concurrently, a grenade was thrown at the Jewish cemetery adjacent to the synagogue.

The assailant then entered a nearby kebab shop and opened fire, killing two individuals and wounding two others.
