The EAJC participated in the Limmud Fesitval in Israel

On December 9-11, Israel hosted the annual Limmud FSU festival. The festival offers participants three days of lectures, workshops, and concerts, traditionally attracting prominent speakers, politicians, and public figures. This year's Limmud guests of honor included Avigdor Lieberman, Minister of Finance of Israel; Gideon Sa'ar, Minister of Justice of Israel; Ze'ev Elkin, Minister of Construction and Housing of Israel; Yuli Edelstein, Member of the Knesset; Aaron G. Frenkel, Chairman of the Euro-Asian Jewish Congress, and other distinguished figures.

During one of the festival sessions, EAJC Director General Dr. Haim Ben Yakov presented selected research findings from the recently published volume "Antisemitism, Tolerance, and Historical Memory in the Post-Soviet Space." The festival also featured a presentation of the EAJC-supported animated film "263 Nights," which tells the story of 26 people who survived the horrors of the Nazi occupation of Minsk by hiding in a dug-out basement for 263 days. Tatiana Manusova, Advisor to the Director General of Yad Vashem on Genesis Philanthropy Group initiatives, spoke about the project and spoke with Yefim Gimelshtein, who narrates the film. Yefim, who was only six years old when he hid in the basement, now resides in Israel and considers it his duty to share his unique story despite the painful memories.

In October of this year, "263 Nights" won Best Documentary Short Film at the Moscow Jewish Film Festival. The film is scheduled to be screened at the Knesset in January 2022.
