
Speaking on a special Israeli TV program addressing ways to lead Israeli society out of the current crisis, Dr. Chaim Ben Yakov, Director General of the EAJC, discussed the current situation within Jewish communities and their organic connection to the State of Israel.
Israel must always be prepared to receive new immigrants, particularly during periods of crisis. This is a lesson taught by both history and Jewish tradition, and represents one of the practical expressions of the Jewish character of the State of Israel. In accordance with the Basic Law: Israel as the Nation-State of the Jewish People, Israel can and must support the activities of Jewish communities worldwide.
