The Director General of the EAJC presented the book "Israel at 75: Dilemmas and Achievements"

Dr. Haim Ben Yakov, Director General of the Euro-Asian Jewish Congress (EAJC), presented his new book, "Israel 75: Dilemmas and Achievements." The event took place on June 15 at the ANU Museum of the Jewish People in Tel Aviv.

The book "Israel 75: Dilemmas and Achievements" is of significant relevance not only to specialists in the history and politics of the State of Israel but also to a general readership interested in the challenges and conflicts inherent in establishing modern state institutions, the role of individuals in history, and the distinct characteristics of Jewish civilization within the unique socio-political climate of Israel. This is the second edition of Dr. Ben Yakov's work; the first was published by Gesharim in 2015. This current edition features substantially expanded chapters on the intellectual history of Israel and the historical roots of issues currently on the public agenda, including developments surrounding the Law of Return.

Over this time, remarkable shifts have occurred in the dynamics between the national and the universal, and between state and religion, during the development of modern state institutions. These issues continue to unfold with the complexity and tension of a political thriller. In this edition, we aim to examine these processes, which are particularly relevant for new Israeli citizens who have arrived throughout the history of the state," the Director General of the EAJC noted in his opening remarks.
