On September 14, the Presidium of the Central Council of the Union of World War II Veterans and Fighters Against Nazism held a meeting, which was attended by Dr. Haim Ben Yakov, Director General of the Euro-Asian Jewish Congress, as an honored guest.
By decision of the Presidium, Dr. Haim Ben Yakov was appointed an honorary member of the Veterans Union and awarded the Israeli commemorative medal "75 Years of Victory," issued for the anniversary of the victory over Nazism. The medal and a personalized certificate signed by the Minister of Defense of Israel were presented to war veterans, public figures, and politicians who have contributed to preserving the memory of World War II and providing assistance to veterans.
During the meeting, Abram Grinzaid, Chairman of the Veterans Union, expressed gratitude to the EAJC for supporting the initiatives of veteran organizations in Israel and across the Euro-Asian region. By decision of EAJC President Dr. Mikhail Mirilashvili, the Euro-Asian Jewish Congress supports the activities of the Union of World War II Veterans, an organization that unites those who endured the devastating years of war, as well as the challenges of repatriation and integration in Israel. The EAJC Public Diplomacy Department will also assist with the preparation and execution of the 16th Congress of the Veterans Union in November.
