Israel Commemorates 72 Years of Independence (Video)

In 1897, immediately following the First Zionist Congress, Theodor Herzl made a truly prophetic entry in his diary:

"In Basel, I founded the Jewish State. If I were to say this aloud today, I would be met by universal laughter. But in five years, and certainly in fifty, everyone will recognize it."

Exactly 50 years later – in 1947 – the United Nations adopted the resolution to establish a Jewish state.

Today, 72 years after its declaration of independence, Israel stands as one of the world's leading nations.
