An Israeli citizen detained in Baku has returned to Israel

Beni Hai, an Israeli citizen detained in Azerbaijan four months ago, has been released and has returned to Israel.

A few days ago, EAJC President Mikhael Mirilashvili appealed to the President of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, requesting clemency for the Israeli citizen, who had faced difficulties due to a misunderstanding.

Today, Mikhael Mirilashvili expressed his gratitude to President Aliyev on behalf of the EAJC and on his own behalf:

“The relations between the Azerbaijani and Jewish peoples have always been characterized by mutual respect and exceptional warmth, and your benevolence toward this Israeli citizen further confirms this. I sincerely hope that our nations will continue to assist one another and maintain mutually beneficial relations.”
