Lag BaOmer: One of the Most Enigmatic Jewish Holidays (Video)

Traditionally, the eve of Lag BaOmer in Israel is marked by numerous bonfires; however, this year, by government decree, lighting bonfires is strictly prohibited. 

The traditional festive gathering at Mount Meron, at the tomb of Rabbi Shimon bar Yochai, will also be significantly scaled down. While the site typically draws hundreds of thousands of Israelis, current emergency regulations permit the lighting of only three bonfires. Furthermore, attendance at each ceremony is restricted to a maximum of 50 authorized individuals holding special permits. 

These measures have been implemented to prevent public gatherings and to facilitate the nation's swift recovery from the pandemic crisis.
