EAJC leaders met with the King of Spain

Leaders of the Euro-Asian Jewish Congress (EAJC) attended the regular session of the World Jewish Congress Executive Committee held in Madrid. The event was scheduled to coincide with Spain assuming the Presidency of the Council of the European Union on July 1. A high-level Congress delegation comprised of EAJC President Dr. Mikhail Mirilashvili, Chairman of the Board Aaron G. Frenkel, CEO Dr. Haim Ben-Yakov, and EAJC Treasurer Menachem Bushuev met with King Felipe VI of Spain, senior Spanish diplomats, ambassadors accredited to Madrid, and envoys tasked with combating antisemitism representing the UN, the Council of Europe, the European Union, the US, and Germany.

Additionally, on the sidelines of the WJC Executive Committee session, the EAJC leadership met with the heads of the Jewish communities of Russia and Ukraine to discuss pressing humanitarian issues requiring immediate action.

During an official reception with King Felipe VI of Spain, attended by World Jewish Congress President Ronald S. Lauder, and following the delivery of the traditional blessing upon meeting a monarch alongside expressions of gratitude for the hospitality, EAJC President Dr. Mikhail Mirilashvili stated:

“As Israel continues to develop, the global Jewish community views the Jewish state as a source of inspiration. The long-held dream of Israel as the center of the Jewish world, a beacon of light for the Jewish diaspora and the nations of the world, is no longer merely a dream and possesses all the necessary resources for its realization. The stronger the State of Israel becomes, the greater responsibility it bears for the security and well-being of the entire Jewish people. Addressing antisemitism through rhetoric alone is insufficient. Today, the Jewish world requires a strong, secure, and unified Jewish state, prepared to generously share its innovations, cultural, and scientific achievements with the international community.

Israeli innovative technologies make the world a better place, helping to resolve environmental, healthcare, agricultural, and food security challenges, while simultaneously addressing the refugee crisis currently facing modern Europe. New technologies enable impoverished nations to produce sufficient water and food, thereby providing populations with vital necessities in their homelands. I urge Jewish philanthropists, world leaders, and political institutions to unite their efforts to address these universal challenges facing humanity.”
