Maccabi Honored the Memory of the Munich Massacre Victims

The "Maccabi" Jewish Society for Aesthetics and Physical Culture hosted its traditional memorial service to honor the 11 members of the Israeli Olympic team murdered by the "Black September" terrorist group during the Munich Olympic Games on September 5, 1972.

Responding to the Society's call, numerous Jewish organizations across the Euro-Asian region held memorial services throughout September, with communities, clubs, and organizations lighting candles and reciting the Kaddish mourning prayer.

Distinguished attendees at the Maccabi Club ceremony included Mark Rakita, Honorary President of Maccabi RF, multiple Olympic champion, and World, European, and USSR fencing champion; Aron Bogolyubov, Honorary Vice President of Maccabi RF, Olympic medalist, and European and USSR champion in wrestling, Sambo, and Judo; and Iosif Roytman, General Representative of Maccabi RF in Israel and Honorary President of the Sambo Federation of Israel.
