An International Jewish Youth Camp Has Opened in Almaty

An international Jewish youth camp has opened in the foothills of Almaty, with the support of the Euro-Asian Jewish Congress. This summer, the camp has brought together young participants from Kazakhstan, neighboring Central Asian countries, and Israel.

The comprehensive program will introduce participants to the fundamentals of Jewish tradition, and will feature mountain hiking and a Maccabiah tournament.

During the opening ceremony, the attendees were welcomed by Alexander Baron, Chairman of the Council of the 'Mitshva' Association and member of the Council of the Assembly of People of Kazakhstan. He emphasized the continuous expansion of the camp's geographical reach.

In her address, Inessa Chugainova, Director of the 'Rimon' Community Center, noted that many former camp participants subsequently become active in community life.

“The importance of studying Jewish tradition and connecting young people to their roots cannot be overstated. It is they who will lead the Jewish communities in their respective home regions,” stated EAJC President Mikhael Mirilashvili.

The youth program, designed to introduce participants to the fundamentals of Jewish tradition, will run until July 21.
