An EAJC representative participated in the joint recital of the Selichot prayers in Bahrain

On August 22, at the invitation of Mr. Ebrahim Nonoo, lead of the Jewish community of Bahrain and President of the Association of Gulf Jewish Communities (AGJC), Chaim Blechman, representative of the Euro-Asian Jewish Congress, attended the Selichot service at the House of the Ten Commandments synagogue in Manama, Bahrain.

The joint prayer was organized by the Association of Gulf Jewish Communities, which represents the Jewish communities of Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates. The service in Bahrain was led by Alex Peterfreund, cantor of the Dubai synagogue, while Rabbi Dr. Elie Abadie joined via Zoom.

EAJC President Mikhael Mirilashvili addressed a letter to the Jewish Community of Bahrain regarding the revival of active Jewish life, stating in particular:

"The progressive modifications currently taking place within the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf open new horizons for the development of Jewish life, fostering interaction and mutual enrichment between Arab and Jewish cultures, and establishing new standards for international relations globally. It is crucial to emphasize that your community has played a pivotal role as one of the key initiators and catalysts of these transformations."

During the subsequent exchange of views between the EAJC representative and the leadership of the Jewish Community of Bahrain, both parties expressed their commitment to further expanding bilateral contacts.

Ebrahim Nonoo remarked: "Chaim Blechman honored us by joining our Selichot service. The objective of our initiatives is to connect virtually with Jewish communities worldwide, and it was our distinct pleasure to host Chaim Blechman for several days as he participated in these solemn events."

During the visit of the EAJC representative to Bahrain, meetings were also held with members of the business community interested in establishing strong ties with partners from the Jewish communities of the Euro-Asian region.
