The President of the EAJC extends his congratulations on the occasion of Passover

Dear Friends,

u201cIn every generation, one must regard oneself as if he personally had gone out of Egypt.u201d

These words from the Passover Haggadah have resonated in our homes from generation to generation, serving as a constant reminder: freedom is not granted once and for all. It must be chosen, defended, and sustained every single day, under any circumstances.

Passover teaches us that the path to freedom is neither straight nor simple. It leads through darkness, doubt, and the wilderness. Yet, those who keep their eyes on the horizon will inevitably reach their destination. It is this conviction that enables us, as Jews across the globe, to endure even the most turbulent times.

Today, as Israel lives through pain, anxiety, and uncertainty, and Jewish communities across the Euro-Asian region welcome the holiday amidst instability, we feel a profound connection to our ancient history.

At this year's Seder tables, empty seats will remainu2014in memory and anticipation of those who have not yet returned home, as our brothers and sisters continue to be held hostage by terrorists in the Gaza Strip. We do not cease to think of them, pray for them, and await their return daily.

May this Passover bring us inner clarity, the fortitude to endure our own "forty years in the desert," and the strength to attain our liberation. May every family feel the warmth of unity, and may the voice of hope be heard at every table. Let redemption begin with usu2014through our words, actions, prayers, and aspirations.
