Under the auspices of the EAJC, the book "Righteous Among the Nations. Ukraine" has been published.

On the eve of the commemorations marking the 80th anniversary of the Babi Yar tragedy, and with the support of the EAJC, the book "Righteous Among the Nations. Ukraine" was published. The volume honors citizens of Ukraine who saved Jews during the Holocaust. As part of the events dedicated to the 80th anniversary, the book was presented to the President of the State of Israel, Isaac Herzog.

The book "Righteous Among the Nations. Ukraine" contains approximately 2,700 names of Ukrainians who saved Jews during the Holocaust. This constitutes a complete register of Ukrainians officially recognized to date as Righteous Among the Nations by the Israeli Holocaust Memorial Complex Yad Vashem. This title has been awarded on behalf of the State of Israel by a specialized commission since 1963 to non-Jews who provided assistance to Jewish individuals during the Holocaust. Globally, nearly 27,000 individuals have been recognized as Righteous, with Ukraine ranking fourth in terms of the number of designees.

All the names of the Ukrainian Righteous in this database are organized by region, accompanied by individual stories of rescue and photographs of the Righteous. Forward addresses to the publication were provided by the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy, the President of Israel Isaac Herzog, the President of the EAJC Dr. Michael Mirilashvili, First Vice-President of the EAJC and President of the Jewish Confederation of Ukraine Boris Lozhkin, and the Chairman of the Advisory Board of the Babi Yar Holocaust Memorial Center Natan Sharansky.

The book "Righteous Among the Nations. Ukraine", initiated by the Jewish Confederation of Ukraine, was published by Nash Format with the support of the Yad Vashem Holocaust Memorial Complex, the Babi Yar Holocaust Memorial Center, and the Euro-Asian Jewish Congress. A PDF version of the book is available on the website of the EAJC Library.

"The book contains near 2,700 names of Ukrainian Righteous currently recognized by Yad Vashem. In addition to a comprehensive register of the Righteous for each region of Ukraine, we have included specific rescue stories and photographs. I am confident that this list will expand over time, and we will uncover the names of more Righteous who currently remain anonymous," stated Boris Lozhkin, First Vice-President of the EAJC and President of the Jewish Confederation of Ukraine.

"During the darkest years of the Second World War, there were individuals who could not remain indifferent to the tragedy of the Jewish people. There were many such people. In Ukraine, over two and a half thousand Righteous have been officially recognized. It is our duty to remember this and pay tribute of gratitude and respect to each one of them. For this reason, it was of paramount importance for us and our colleagues from the Jewish Confederation of Ukraine to publish the book 'Righteous Among the Nations. Ukraine', which we are honored to present today," declared the President of the EAJC Dr. Michael Mirilashvili.
