News

On June 12, with the support of the Euro-Asian Jewish Congress (EAJC), a meeting was held between the Azerbaijani Ambassador to Israel, Mukhtar Mammadov, and the Mayor of Tel Aviv, Ron Huldai. The meeting at the mayor's office, which was also attended by EAJC Director General Dr. Haim Ben Yakov, focused on bilateral cooperation in the fields of culture and tourism.

“We highly appreciate the active work of the recently established diplomatic mission of the Republic of Azerbaijan in Israel. Establishing connections not only at the state level but also at the municipal level fosters the comprehensive development of relations between our nations and countries. The EAJC leadership is pleased to facilitate meetings between diplomatic representatives of the Euro-Asian region and Israeli state and municipal leaders. We are also grateful to the Mayor of Tel Aviv, Ron Huldai, for the warm welcome and readiness for partnership.”

The Azerbaijani Embassy in Tel Aviv officially opened in March 2023. This diplomatic mission marks the first official representation in Israel of a country with a Shia Muslim majority population.

Previously, EAJC leaders attended the first official celebration of the Independence Day of the Republic of Azerbaijan in Tel Aviv, as well as a special reception marking the opening of the embassy, which was attended by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan.
