The Hebrew University hosted a conference in memory of Mikhail Chlenov, organized with the participation of the EAJC.

With the participation of the Euro-Asian Jewish Congress, an academic conference was held at the International Center for University Teaching of Jewish Civilization (Hebrew University of Jerusalem), honoring the memory of the prominent Orientalist, public figure, and EAJC co-founder Mikhail Anatolyevich Chlenov (1940 – 2024). 

The conference brought together prominent scholars in Oriental studies, historians, philologists, literary critics, and researchers from the Institute for Euro-Asian Jewish Studies at the EAJC.

Dr. Haim Ben Yakov, Director General of the EAJC, opened the conference by emphasizing the Congress leadership's commitment to preserving the legacy of Prof. Mikhail Chlenov and honoring his contributions to academic research and his diverse public endeavors.

The academic discussions focused on areas within Mikhail Chlenov's research interests, including the ethnographic landscape from the Moluccas and the Bering Strait to Jewish sub-ethnic groups; the theory of Jewish civilization at the intersection of academia and public activism; and the Jewish movement within the Soviet Union and the post-Soviet cultural sphere.
