The Netanya chess tournament has established itself as the most prestigious in Israeli history

The International Chess Festival, supported by the Euro-Asian Jewish Congress, has concluded in Netanya, Israel. The average rating of the Netanya 2019 Masters tournament reached a record high in Israeli history.

The tournament featured leading Israeli and international grandmasters, including Leinier Domínguez Pérez (USA), Daniil Dubov (Russia), and Ilia Smirin (Israel).

The Netanya 2019 Masters tournament was won by Israeli Grandmaster Boris Gelfand, who was also the only participant to complete the event undefeated.

“We take great pride in the achievements of Israeli chess players and intend to continue our support for the country's Chess Federation, which is developing successfully under the leadership of Moshe Slav,” stated EAJC President Mikhael Mirilashvili.

“Israeli chess players have once again demonstrated their readiness to compete in the world's most prestigious tournaments. We congratulate the winners of the tournament in Netanya, a city renowned for its rich chess traditions since the 1960s,” said EAJC Director General Haim Ben-Yakov.
