Hundreds of families receive social support through the efforts of EAJC

EAJC leadership prioritizes support for socio-economically vulnerable Jewish families and the elderly within the Euro-Asian region as one of the Congress's primary objectives.

"In Jewish tradition, supporting those in need is defined by the term tzedakah—meaning, literally, justice—and stands as one of the core commandments of Judaism. We make every effort to ensure that our children and elderly can lead dignified lives, receiving comprehensive assistance and care," stated EAJC President Dr. Michael Mirilashvili.

With the support of the EAJC and the personal involvement of Congress President Dr. Michael Mirilashvili, the charitable foundation "Regional Jewish Congress in St. Petersburg," led by Executive Vice President Evgenia Lvova, implements critical social welfare initiatives.

The "Jewish Family Service" program provides aid to low-income Jewish families, single-parent households with multiple children, guardian families raising orphans or children whose parents have been stripped of parental rights, and families with disabled children or parents.

The operational principles of the "Jewish Family Service" are modeled on American and Israeli social support methodologies, with a particular focus on a comprehensive family welfare approach.

Each family receives consultations from specialists across various fields, including a dedicated social worker. Based on these professional recommendations, an individualized support plan is drafted to ensure measurable success in overcoming social vulnerability.

The initiative has already assisted over 5,000 children, not only enhancing their well-being but also providing them with the opportunity to integrate into the Jewish community.

Special recognition is owed to the "Neshama" Jewish Sunday Club (translated from Hebrew as "soul"), which has spent 20 years helping families navigate crises and daily hardships.

One of the programmatic priorities is providing impoverished elderly Jewish individuals with complimentary meals, distributed both at dedicated social centers and through home-delivery services.

Under the Alzheimer's support initiative at the Memory and Health Center, elderly individuals attend individual and group sessions, receive medical examinations, and are provided with essential medication.
