An assassination attempt has been made on Mikhail Skoblionok, the head of the Jewish National and Cultural Autonomy of the Republic of Tatarstan

We are deeply shocked and outraged to learn of the attempt on the life of our friend and colleague, Mikhail Skoblionok, a prominent leader of the Jewish community in Kazan and Tatarstan, a long-standing participant in EAJC Assemblies, and President of the Jewish National and Cultural Autonomy of the Republic of Tatarstan.
According to reports, a bomb concealed in an envelope containing documents detonated in his office in Kazan. Physicians have reported his condition as stable and are currently administering the necessary medical treatment.
We express our firm hope that the investigative authorities of the Russian Federation will conduct a prompt and thorough investigation to determine the motives behind this act, identify those responsible, and bring them to justice.

The leadership of the EAJC is closely monitoring the situation and stands ready to provide our friend and colleague with all necessary assistance. We wish Mikhail Abramovich a swift and complete recovery.
