Students held an online meeting with former concentration camp survivors

Students and youth from Moscow, Saint Petersburg, Yakutsk, and other Russian cities participated in an online meeting with former ghetto and Nazi concentration camp survivors.

This marks the fifth meeting held under a joint project of the Russian Union of Jewish Students (RUJS) and the Moscow Association of Jewish Survivors of Ghettos and Concentration Camps (MAJSGCC), which is supported by the Euro-Asian Jewish Congress. Due to current epidemiological conditions, this session was conducted in an online format.

The childhood years of these individuals are inextricably linked to the Holocaust; it is only by miracle that they survived this horrific tragedy of the Jewish people. Profound personal testimonies were shared by Oleg Efimovich Mortkovich, Ilya Abramovich Shwartz, Boris Vladimirovich Srebnik, Ida Iosifovna Spektor, and Zinovy Leonidovich Rotenberg. Following their remarks, the speakers answered questions from the attendees.

Preserving historical memory and preventing Holocaust denial remain core priorities of the Euro-Asian Jewish Congress. We are profoundly grateful to the survivors for dedicating their time and strength to meet with youth, sharing the tragic historical accounts of those devastating years to ensure this memory is carried forward to future generations.
