Felix Dector has passed away in Jerusalem at the age of 89

Felix Dektor, an author, journalist, producer, and publisher of Russian-language books and magazines in Israel, has passed away suddenly in Jerusalem at the age of 89. Farewell, dear friend, a man of great intellect, erudition, refinement, and strength.

Felix Dektor was the first to publish "The Black Book" by Ilya Ehrenburg and Vasily Grossman. To many, he was known as the founder of the prominent "Kovcheg" (The Ark) club, which in the late 1990s became a central hub for Moscow's Jewish intelligentsia. At the time, this new wave of dialogue surrounding Jewish civilization was a profound revelation for many.

Dektor dedicated years of his life to researching the works of Vladimir (Ze'ev) Jabotinsky and publishing his complete collection of writings. He also produced several documentary films directed by Oleg Dorman, including "The Rebbe in the Airport," "Word for Word" (on Lilianna Lungina), and "The Note" (on Rudolf Barshai).
